櫻花步道 ● 好漢坡 ● 蛇

(櫻花步道) Cherry Blossom Trail ...
(好漢坡) Strong Man Hill ...
(蛇) Snakes ...

Instead of joining in the Camel Brothers and Sisters' trip to a scenic spot a few dozen kilometers away in Changhua County, Jean and I went hiking in the nearby mountains this morning.

We walked along the Cherry Blossom trail -- What a beautiful name it is! Yet in this season we could see no cherry blossoms, but a few wild flowers and ... oh, yes, we were overwhelmed by thousands and thousands of green leaves of the various kinds of trees over there. No cherry blossom at all, though.

We walked very slowly, as it is a trail on the steep slopes of the so-called "Strong Man Hill." And after we reached the highest part of the mountain, we had to walk along a shady dirt path that is much narrower than the Cherry Blossom trail, so that we could walk down the other side of the mountain. We were a little excited hiking there, for we took that route for the first time.

Then something really exciting happened. Jean pulled my arm, making me almost step back. "Snake! Over there, do you see..." she was so nervous that her voice became different. "Oh, no, two snakes!" she added. She was right. Now I could clearly see that there were two snakes -- big and long, as I could see. They entwined with each other, so tightly together that you might also have mistaken them for just one snake! -- What were they doing there at the edge of the path? I think I've correctly guessed. (Smiled, though a little scared.)
