Happy Birthday to You, William!

#2010-1029

This morning I was invited to St. James' where I used to work as director of the language center. My former colleague Miss Susan told me that Rev. Charles Chen, my former supervisor, would like me to come for lunch -- "Why?" I asked, though I felt quite happy to come. There must be something special there today, I thought to myself.

Before long, I was clear about everything: It will be your birthday next Tuesday, William; and because Rev. Charles won't be available on that day, he would like some of us to gather on the eighth floor to celebrate your birthday in advance!

Oh, I was so lucky to be among the people singing Happy Birthday to You before you, William.

About seven month ago, my cellular phone received a message saying "Happy birthday to you, Jerry." I had no idea who sent that message to me, so I replied asking who did it. Then, William, you said that it was you who had learned from Facebook about my birthday -- Do you remember this event, this episode?

That happened in March, several months before you came to teach at St. James'. Life is sometimes so interesting, or unpredictable, isn't it?

Little Bee's Eleventh Day (with 12 pictures)

#2010-1028

Little Bee's mother has been confined to a postnatal health care center while his father has been back to work as usual. So, as Little Bee's grandparents, Jean and I are responsible for taking this little babe back to the hospital for a follow-up examination or something. Well, we were pleased to escort this handsome prince again: As the doctor had previously advised, this afternoon Little Bee was vaccinated against hepatitis B.

As you can see [in the pictures], our little prince, Little Bee, is growing quickly. Now he is somewhat bigger, and smarter, than a couple of days ago when he had just come to us. When I fed him with milk, he knew how to help hold the feeding bottle with his hand. What a small hand! It's really cute, isn't it?

#2010-1027

Jean and I visited Xitou again this morning. At the beginning we were bathed in gentle sunshine, but before long the weather there in the mountains changed so quickly that we were lucky enough to see the whole area of this scenic resort bathed in thick fog. Look at the following photos, and you'll see how different Xitou would appear in heavy mist or fog!

Little Bee's Fifth Day (with 6 pictures)

#2010-1022

This morning Little Bee's grandpa, driving with extra care, took Little Bee back to the hospital for a follow-up examination. The 5-day-old boy was too tiny to use the basket-like safety seat while riding in a car, so his grandma hugged him very carefully . . . sitting in the back seat! Thankfully, the little boy slept soundly all the way to the hospital, from which he and his mother had just left for a postnatal care center yesterday.

The grandparents of Little Bee wanted his mother to take a rest at the postnatal care center this morning. She had been too tired from the childbirth to come with them, they thought. And, meanwhile, Little Bee's father has to go to work today. That's why this "senior couple" -- grandpa and grandma -- had the "privilege" to "escort" the baby boy by themselves. (What if the boy cries for milk? See the pictures below, and you'll know that everything needed has been prepared.)

You can dance by yourself;
you can dance with your partner.
You can even dance with many,
many more . . . "birds of a feather"!
