Welcome to Central Taiwan, Rev. Ada Wong Nagata

#2016-0411

Yesterday the Rev. Ada Wong Nagata (王玉瑛牧師), who serves at The Church of Our Saviour, in San Gabriel, California, USA, came and visited our church St. James' Church, in Taichung, Taiwan. She gave us a nice sermon during the English service, when we had Holy Eucharist with our bishop the Rt. Rev. David Lai as celebrant.

Interestingly, our rector Rev. Lily was in Taipei yesterday, as previously invited to preach at the diocesan cathedral, St. John Church. But she returned from there as soon as she could, in order to hold or host a Welcome party for Rev. Ada in the evening. To this dinner party came important representatives of the church such as Bishop David Lai, Rev. Charles Chen (our Rector Emeritus), Samuel Chen (our Senior Warden), and their spouses. And Jean and I were also called to the dinner party, acting as two other "representatives" of St. James' Church who would "warmly welcome our special guest." What a great honor Jean and I had!

Now, in the middle of the dinner time, I learned that Rev. Lily was planning to take Rev. Ada to Sun Moon Lake the next day (that is, today!), and I suddenly had a question to ask, "Do you need a special tour guide and driver? ... I'm willing to be the one, if needed." Both Rev. Lily and Rev. Ada seemed very pleased, saying, "Really? You both can go with us? ..." If fact, only I could join them; my wife (Jean) had a Class Reunion to attend this morning. And the Rev. Charles Chen, accepting our invitation, has also joined us in this "outing" today.

We have mainly visited Sun Moon Lake (日月潭) and Paper Dome (紙教堂). It's really a wonderful day; in the perfect weather, in nice places, and in high spirits, we're doing a lot of chatting and smiling and laughing!
