我喜愛的聖經譯本 (Translations of the Bible)

《聖經》是很特別、很了不起的一本書 ---- 正確的說,它不是「一本」書,而是「好幾本」書[包括神話故事、歷史書、詩歌、傳記 . . . . 等,不同類型的書]和「好多封」信[例如:保羅的書信]的大集合,稱之為「精選集」實不為過。

《聖經》原文分別為古代希伯來語 (Classical Hebrew)、亞蘭語 (Biblical Aramaic) 和通用希臘語 (Koine Greek) 寫成。

《聖經》全書或某部分已被不同的聖經學者或團體翻譯成 2530 種語言。而漢語譯本有用文言文淺文理(半文半白)、白話文(官話)、現代漢語,以及漢語各方言的譯本 ---- 方言譯本包括吳語(如:上海話、蘇州話、寧波話、杭州話 ......)、閩語(如:廈門話、台語、福州話、汕頭畫、潮州話 ......)、贛語(建寧話)、客家話、粵語(如:廣州話、三江話)、官話(如:直隸話、漢口話、膠東話、南京話、山東話)....... 等等。

我最喜愛的《聖經》漢語譯本包括《客語聖經:現代台灣客語譯本》、《聖經現代中文譯本》、《聖經和合本》及其修訂版、《施約瑟文理譯本》(又稱作「二指版」),還有所謂《新舊約全書:文理串珠》---- 參閱本篇文章所附之照片,這本《新舊約全書》的部分內容(馬太福音第五、六、七章),我已逐字抄錄,轉載於前。請點閱: The Sermon on the Mount (山上寶訓)

至於我特別喜歡的《聖經》英語譯本是 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), New International Version (NIV), New American Standard Bible (NASB), Contemporary English Version (CEV), 和 Good News Translation (GNT, 此譯本先前稱作 Good News Bible / GNBToday's English Version / TEV) 。 當然, 所謂「英王欽定本」 (King James VersionKJV ) 及其新修訂版 New King James Version (NKJV) 也是我很喜歡,常常用來「對照/參考」的絕佳譯本。

謹防偽師,其就爾,外如羔羊,內實豺狼,是可因其果識之。荊棘中,豈摘葡萄乎?蒺藜內,豈采無花果乎?善樹結善果,惡樹結惡果;善樹不結惡果,惡樹不結善果。凡樹不結善果者,即斫之委火,是故因其果識之矣。
"Be on your guard against false prophets; they come to you looking like sheep on the outside, but on the inside they are really like wild wolves. You will know them by what they do. Thorn bushes do not bear grapes, and briers do not bear figs. A healthy tree bears good fruit, but a poor tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a poor tree cannot bear good fruit. And any tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire. So then, you will know the false prophets by what they do.

凡稱我曰,主也,主也者,未必盡入天國,惟遵我天父旨者入焉。當日,多人將語我云,主也,主也,我非託爾名傳教,託爾名逐鬼,託爾名廣行異能乎?我將明告之曰,作不善者,吾未嘗識爾,其離我去矣。
"Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do. When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God's message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles! Then I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!'

聞吾言而行之者,譬彼智人,建屋磐上,雨降潦行,風吹撞屋,而不傾覆,因基磐上。聞吾言而不行者,譬彼愚人,建屋沙上,雨降潦行,風吹撞屋,遂以傾覆,而傾覆者大也。
"So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard against that house, and it fell. And what a terrible fall that was!"

耶穌言竟,眾奇其訓,以其教人,若操權者然,不同士子也。
When Jesus finished saying these things, the crowd was amazed at the way he taught. He wasn't like the teachers of the Law; instead, he taught with authority.

勿議人,則不見議。爾議人若何,則見議亦如是;爾度人若何,則見度亦如是。且夫兄弟目中有草芥,爾視之,而己目中有梁木,不自覺,何歟?將何以語兄弟曰,爾目草芥,容我為爾去之。而己目中竟有梁木乎!偽善者乎!先去爾目中梁木,方可明見,以去兄弟目中草芥也。
"Do not judge others, so that God will not judge you, for God will judge you in the same way you judge others, and he will apply to you the same rules you apply to others. Why, then, do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the log in your own eye? How dare you say to your brother, 'Please, let me take that speck out of your eye,' when you have a log in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

勿以潔物投狗,勿以珍珠委豕,恐彼踐之,轉而噬爾。
"Do not give what is holy to dogs -- they will only turn and attack you. Do not throw your pearls in front of pigs -- they will only trample them underfoot.

求則爾與,尋則遇之,叩門則啟之。凡求者得也,尋者遇也,叩門者啟也。爾中孰有子,求餅而與之石,求魚而與之蛇乎?爾曹雖不善,尚知以善物與子,何況天父,不以善物賜求知者乎!
"Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks will receive, and anyone who seeks will find, and the door will be opened to those who knock. Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone when he asks for bread? Or would you give him a snake when he asks for a fish? As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

爾欲人施諸己,亦必如是施諸人,此律法先知也。
"Do for others what you want them to do for you: this is the meaning of the Law of Moses and of the teachings of the prophets.

當進窄門。引而之死,其門也闊,其路也寬,入之者多;引而之生,其門也窄,其路也狹,得之者少。
"Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate to hell is wide and the road that leads to it is easy, and there are many who travel it. But the gate to life is narrow and the way that leads to it is hard, and there are few people who find it.

勿積財於地,蠹食銹壞,盜穴而竊之處;惟積財於天,蠹不食,銹不壞,盜不穴不竊之處。蓋爾財所在,爾心亦在焉。
"Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, store up riches for yourselves in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and robbers cannot break in and steal. For your heart will always be where your riches are.

夫燭照於身者,目也,目瞭則全身光,目眊則全身暗,爾光若暗,其暗大哉。
"The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!

一人事二主者,未之有也,或惡此愛彼,或重此輕彼,爾不能事上帝,又事財貨也。
"You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

我語汝,勿慮生何以食,何以飲,身何以衣;生非大於糧,身不大於衣乎?試觀飛鳥不稼不穡,無積無廩,天父且養之,爾豈不貴於鳥乎?爾曹誰能以思慮延命一刻乎?
"This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't life worth more than food? And isn't the body worth more than clothes? Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds? Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it?

曷為衣服慮耶?試思野有百合花,如何而長,不勞不紡,我語汝,當所羅門榮華之極,其衣不及此花之一。且夫野草,今日尚存,明日投爐,上帝猶衣被之若此,況爾小信者乎!
"And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. It is God who clothes the wild grass -- grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothes you? What little faith you have!

故勿慮何以食,何以飲,何以衣,此皆異邦人所求,天父知爾需之。惟上帝之國與義是求,則此物自加諸爾。故勿為明日慮,明日之慮,慮於明日,今日之勞,勞於今日,足矣。
"So do not start worrying: 'Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes?' (These are the things the pagans are always concerned about.) Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things. Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things. So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day bring."

愼勿人前施濟,故令人見之,若然,則不獲爾天父之賞矣。
"Make certain you do not perform your religious duties in public so that people will see what you do. If you do these things publicly, you will not have any reward from your Father in heaven.

故施濟時,勿令吹角於前,若偽善者,在會堂街巷,求榮於人,我誠告爾,彼已得其賞矣。惟施濟時,勿使左手知右手所為,如是,則爾之施濟隱矣,爾父監於隱者,將顯以報爾。
"So when you give something to a needy person, do not make a big show of it, as the hypocrites do in the houses of worship and on the streets. They do it so that people will praise them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. But when you help a needy person, do it in such a way that even your closest friend will not know about it. Then it will be a private matter. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

爾祈禱時,毋若偽善,喜立會堂交衢祈禱,令人見之,我誠告爾,彼已得其賞矣。爾祈禱時,宜於密室,閉門祈隱微之父,爾父監於隱者,將顯以報爾。
"When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and on the street corners, so that everyone will see them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you.

爾祈禱時,語勿反覆,如異邦人,彼以為言多,乃得聲聞也,勿效之,蓋未求之先,爾所需者,父已知之。
"When you pray, do not use a lot of meaningless words, as the pagans do, who think that their gods will hear them because their prayers are long. Do not be like them. Your Father already knows what you need before you ask him.

是以祈禱云:吾父在天,願爾名聖,爾國臨格,爾旨得成,在地若天,所需之糧,今日賜[「賜」字,原文作「錫」],我免人負,求免我負,俾勿我試,拯我出惡,以國、權、榮,皆爾所有,爰及世世,固所願也。
"This, then, is how you should pray: 'Our Father in heaven: May your holy name be honored; may your Kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need. Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us. Do not bring us to hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.'

爾免人過,天父亦免爾過;爾不免人過,天父亦不免爾過。
If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.

爾禁食時,毋若偽善作憂容,彼變色,以禁食示人,我誠告爾,彼已得其賞矣。惟禁食時,膏首面,勿以禁食現於人,乃現於隱微之父,爾父監於隱者,將顯以報爾也。
"And when you fast, do not put on a sad face as the hypocrites do. They neglect their appearance so that everyone will see that they are fasting. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you go without food, wash your face and comb your hair, so that others cannot know that you are fasting -- only your Father, who is unseen, will know. And your father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you."

又聞古者有言,毋背誓願,指主而誓願者,必守之,惟我語汝,概勿誓。勿指天而誓,天乃上帝座也;勿指地而誓,地乃其足凳也;勿指耶路撒冷而誓,耶路撒冷乃大君之京師也;勿指首而誓,首之一髮,不能自為黑白也。顧爾之言,惟是是否否,過此則由惡起也。
"You have also heard that people were told in the past, 'Do not break your promise, but do what you have vowed to the Lord to do.' But now I tell you: do not use any vow when you make a promise. Do not swear by heaven, for it is God's throne; nor by earth, for it is the resting place for his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Do not even swear by your head, because you cannot make a single hair white or black. Just say 'Yes' or 'No' -- anything else you say comes from the Evil One.

爾聞有言目償目,齒償齒,惟我語汝,勿敵惡。有人批爾右頰,轉左頰向之;有人訟爾,欲得爾裏衣,外服亦聽取之;有人強爾行一里,則偕行二里。求爾者與之,借爾者勿卻。
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek too. And if someone takes you to court to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well. And if one of the occupation troops forces you to carry his pack one mile, carry it two miles. When someone asks you for something, give it to him; when someone wants to borrow something, lend it to him.

爾聞有言,同人愛之,敵者憾之,惟我語汝,敵爾者愛之,詛爾者祝之,憾爾者善視之,陷害窘逐爾者,為之祈禱,如此,則可為天父之子。蓋天父以日照夫善不善,以雨濡夫義不義者也。爾而愛愛爾者,有何賞耶?稅吏不亦如是乎!爾獨友於兄弟,有何過人耶?稅吏不亦如是乎!故爾當純全,若爾天父焉。
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your friends, hate your enemies.' But now I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil. Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that! And if you speak only to your friends, have done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that! You must be perfect -- just as your Father in heaven is perfect."

勿以我來壞律法及先知也,我來非以壞之,乃以成之。我誠告爾,天地未廢,律法一點一畫不能廢,皆得成焉。故毀此誡至微之一,又以是教人者,在天國必謂之至微;遵此誡而教人者,在天國必謂之大矣。我語汝,倘爾之義,無以加乎士子法利賽人之義[原文「法利賽」三字,皆加「口」字旁],斷不進於天國也。
"Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true. Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the least point nor the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with -- not until the end of all things. So then, whoever disobeys even the least important of the commandments and teaches others to do the same, will be least in the Kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, whoever obeys the Law and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the Kingdom of heaven. I tell you, then, that you will be able to enter the Kingdom of heaven only if you are more faithful than the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees in doing what God requires.

爾聞古者有言勿殺,殺則難免乎刑官,然我語爾,無故怒兄弟者,難免乎刑官,詈兄弟曰拉加者,難免乎公會,兄弟曰魔利者,難免乎地獄之火。欲獻禮物於壇上,而記兄弟與爾有憾,則留禮物於壇前,先和乃兄弟,後獻禮物,可也。
"You have heard that people were told in the past, 'Do not commit murder; anyone who does will be brought to trial.' But now I tell you: if you are angry with your brother you will be brought to trial, if you call your brother 'You good-for-nothing!' you will be brought before the Council, and if you call your brother a worthless fool you will be in danger of going to the fire of hell. So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.

訟爾者,猶在途間,急宜與和,恐送爾於士師,士師發爾於隸,遂下囹圄。我誠告爾,毫釐未償,斷不能出彼也。
"If someone brings a lawsuit against you and takes you to court, settle the dispute while there is time, before you get to court. Once you are there, you will be turned over to the judge, who will hand you over to the police, and you will be put in jail. There you will stay, I tell you, until you pay the last penny of your fine.

古者有言勿淫,爾聞之矣,惟我語汝,見色而好知者,心已淫矣。設也,右目陷爾於罪,則抉而委之,寧百體喪一,勿全身投地獄;設也,右手陷爾於罪,則斷而去之,寧百體失一,勿全身投地獄。
"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But now I tell you: anyone who looks at a woman and wants to possess her is guilty of committing adultery with her in his heart. So if your right eye causes you to sin, take it out and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose a part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell. If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! It is much better for you to lose one of your limbs than to have your whole body go off to hell.

又言若人出妻,則以離書與之,惟我語汝,非姦故而出妻,是使之有淫行也,娶所出之妻者,亦行淫也。
"It was also said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a written notice of divorce.' But now I tell you: if a man divorces his wife for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, then he is guilty of making her commit adultery if she marries again; and the man who marries her commits adultery also."

Jesus saw the crowds and went up a hill, where he sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them:

虛心者福矣,以天國乃其國也;哀慟者福矣,以其將受慰也;溫柔者福矣,以其將得土也;飢渴慕義者福矣,以其將得飽也;矜恤者福矣,以其將見矜恤也;清心者福矣,以其將見上帝也;和平者福矣,以其將稱為上帝子也;為義而見窘逐者福矣,以天國乃其國也。
"Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!
"Happy are those who mourn; God will comfort them!
"Happy are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised!
"Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy them fully!
"Happy are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them!
"Happy are the pure in heart; they will see God!
"Happy are those who work for peace; God will call them his children!
"Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them!

為我而受人詬誶窘逐,惡言誹謗者福矣,當欣喜歡樂,以在天爾得賞者大也。蓋人窘逐先知,自昔然矣。
"Happy are you when people insult you and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are my followers. Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were persecuted.

爾如地之鹽,鹽失其味,何以復之?後必無用,惟棄於外,為人所踐耳。
"You are like salt for the whole human race. But if salt loses its saltiness, there is no way to make it salty again. It has become worthless, so it is thrown out and people trample on it.

爾乃世之光,猶建邑於山,不能隱藏。人燃燈不置斗下,乃在台上者,普照家人也。如是,爾光當照乎人,俾見爾善行,歸榮爾天父焉。
"You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven."
