Little Brother: What's That?

#2017-0728

"What's that?" asked the little brother.

Didi wendao: "Na shi shenme?"

"It's the Earth. And . . . many stars . . . the moon . . . or the Sun -- oh, I'm not very sure about it," the elder brother said. "But let me tell you about this." He turned to another page, in which they could see a picture of a crane car. (The title in the page is "Truck-Mounted Crane," or 起重機 in Chinese.)

Gege jieshi, shuo: "Zhe shi diqiu. Haiyou, xuduo xingxing . . . han taiyang . . . yueliang -- qishi wo ye bu tai qingchu neige-shi-neige! -- Lai ba! Women lai kan zhe yi zhang." Gege ba shu fan dao lingwai yi ye, zhe yi ye you qizhongji de tupian. (Yingwen mingcheng wei "Truck-Mounted Crane".)

The little brother became even more interested in the elder brother's explanation -- As I can see, they are like a teacher and a student, sometimes!

Didi jujing-huishen ting-zhe Gege de tupian shuoming. Yi wo kan, tamen banyan de fenbie shi laoshi han xuesheng de juese; youshi, tamen jiu xihuan zheyang!

Congratulations to James Liang on His Graduation

#2017-0714A

My grandson James Liang (nicknamed "Little Bee") will "graduate" from St. James' Preschool today. The graduation ceremony will be held very soon this evening at Taichung City Dadun Culture Center, and my wife and I are invited to this important event as "special guests." -- Thanks so much for the invitation! For attending that important event (Click and see #2017-0714B for photos) will be my pleasure ... and my honor!

Now I'd like to say this to my 6-year-old grandson: "Congratulations to you, little boy! I'm proud of you, for you've now finished your preschool studies and will be given your first biye-zhengshu -- the first Diploma (or Certificate of Graduation) in your life! ... Keep being happy and smart, being kind and grateful to others; and as you're going to the elementary school in September, be ready for studying and learning more, and be brave enough to explore new things as long as they are good and worth trying! ..."
