Shalom in Hebrew .
"Shalom" (שָׁלוֹם) is a Hebrew word meaning peace, completeness, prosperity, and welfare and can be used idiomatically to mean both hello and goodbye.
Interestingly, the word "shalom" can be used for all parts of speech; as a noun, adjective, verb, adverb, and interjection. The word shalom is used in a variety of expressions and contexts in Hebrew speech and writing. (See English Wikipedia for the examples and the explanations.)
But now, just before their leaving from us, Jean and I want to express our best wishes to Rev. Philip Lin and his wife (Linda Lin). We would like to say to them, "Shalom! Zaihui! The Lord be with you wherever you are! . . ."
"Shalom" (in blue) and "Salām" (in green) mean
"peace" in Hebrew and Arabic respectively
and often represent a peace symbol.
