The Lord Guide and Bless You and Me!

#2019-0429

Jean and I will be leaving for Taipei to attend Antony's ordination as a priest. The ordination will be held at St. John's Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Taiwan on Wednesday, that is, on the evening of May 1st.

How grateful we have been these days! Many people who knew about this coming ordination have said "Congratulations" to us; and to my surprise, they all looked so excited as we are! Oh, yes, it's really "Amazing Grace" from God. Without God's grace and help, it would be totally impossible for us or our son to be so much honored as in this case.

May the Lord our God continue teaching us and helping us, so that we can become true Christians (who are acceptable and pleasing to Him) ... Also, may the Holy Spirit of the Lord guide and bless you and me, just as He has always loved the family of His own, the whole "family" of Christians, including all members of this church! ...

Easter Day + Holy Baptism (2019)

#2019-0421

Happy Easter! ... On Easter Day we were very happy and excited.

"Alleluia. Christ is risen." Rev. Lily said this at the beginning of the service; and we responded in a loud voice, saying, "The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia."

While celebrating this special day, we had Holy Baptism: Our good friend Mimi Huang (黃璇華姊妹) and a boy named Guanhua (黃冠樺 小朋友) were baptized by Rev. Lily Chang. It is said that  Guanhua and his parents usually attend the Chinese service, yet I was surprised to find that the boy's father is Russian -- belonging to the Orthodox Church!

Congratulations to Mimi and Guanhua! ... From now on you'll have on your forehead an invisible sign which indicates that the Lord our God is always with you wherever you are! ...

The Countryside (田園風光)

#2019-0417

About 10 days ago, Jean and I went back to her hometown, Dajia, visiting my mother-in-law, who had just returned from the hospital. We stayed with our old mama there for two days, during which Jean spent most of the time with her mom at home (and cooked something special for her) but I, just as they suggested, didn't forget to do some "mild" exercises. On the second day, I took a walk along a narrow path through the lush countryside not far from home.

Wow! Seeing those new plants of rice and taro could really make me a little happier. Like Jean, I had been feeling "down" because of the recent situations of our mothers -- both of them have been sick or weak. But as you might have experienced, nature (or the natural beauty of the countryside) can give us some kind of comfort and healing. Well, yes, I hope I will actually stand close to nature more often than before!

Postscript: My mother, or Jean's mother-in-law, is requested to return to Jen-Ai for a follow-up visit tomorrow, April 18. That's why I reviewed the following photos and wrote some notes as above. I do hope the natural beauty of the countryside reminds me of the meaning of the "new life" (as revealed by the green plants of young rice and taro).
