Little Bee with Us

#2016-0916

If you want to see "Little Shine and Me," please click here.

This page will show you "Little Bee with Us," instead. -- Look at it. You know what we were doing in the playground? . . . Our first grandson was posing for photos. He was very pleased while my wife was using her smart phone and, especially, when I held up one of his favorite toys just as a camera -- to take pictures of him!

(Note: At a time I pretended to be an excellent photographer, but with a toy shoe in my hands!)

And our little boy wanted to be a photographer, too. He took over his grandma's cellphone, asked us to pose for photos, and . . . Well, he actually took a few pictures of us -- his happy grandparents!

Little Shine and Me

#2016-0912

His birthday being two weeks from now, Little Shine is less than two years old. But he likes to play with his grandpa, an old man in his 60's.

(Ha! There's no need for a man to mask his age. My real age is 63, ALREADY!)

Now, I'd like to be very honest to tell you this: I like to play with him too. I like playing with this small boy sooooooo very much!

When I saw him wearing a Big, Big pair of slippers, I burst into laughter. The slippers are not his, but he had secretly put them on; and in a proud manner, he has been walking fast from the living room to the kitchen and then from there back to where I was. He looked so excited, stepping here and there as quickly as he could. "Flip, flop!" his quick walk, almost trotting, has made such clear sounds: "Flip, flop! Flip, flop! Flip, flop! ..."

I laughed at him. And I started to ACTIVELY play with him; l stepped before him, quickly and skillfully, as though I were performing a tap-dance. Seeing what I did, this little boy became even more excited and ... more active! Big laughs.

(Little Bee and Little Shine)

Jean's Class Reunion, 2016

#2016-0826B

Before Meeting Jean's Former Classmates

#2016-0826A

"Come with me to my tongxuehui?"

Tongxuehui means "a reunion of classmates." A couple of days ago Jean told me her former classmates would meet at Tao-Li Hepan this year for a reunion. She was hoping that I could join her there.

"Yes, I'd like to escort you there," I said, putting emphasis on the verb which I actually used "husong" (護送) in Mandarin.

In fact, to escort (or accompany) her was just one of the reasons for my saying "yes" -- The winding road leading to Tao-Li Hepan in the mountains might cause some problems to car drivers who are not accustomed to driving on such a narrow road with so many curves in it. I was available, and willing, to be her "private driver" this morning!

My other reasons for coming included: (1) I'd never been at Tao-Li Hepan (桃李河畔, literally as "Plums River Bank"), the name of the place being so attractive that I felt like having a visit to it. (2) Last year when I went with Jean to her class-reunion for the first time, I did have a good time meeting some old and new friends; good memories made me want to participate again in that kind of thing.
