This afternoon, around four o’clock, my wife Jean and I set out for a brief escape into nature. We returned to the Wangyue Peak (望月峰) viewing platform in Wufeng, a serene spot right near Mingtai High School, the historic Wufeng Lin Family Garden (霧峰林家花園).
The journey up required a bit of effort. Before reaching the viewing platform, we had to tackle a fairly steep slope. Fortunately, a well-constructed trail with step-like stairs made the climb manageable. Most of the path wound beneath a dense canopy of tall trees, providing cool shade that protected us from the afternoon heat as we made our way along the trail, carpeted with fallen leaves and earth.
When we finally reached the viewing platform, the late-afternoon sun was casting long, golden rays across the hillside. Standing together, we looked over and saw our own shadows softly projected onto the exposed earth wall behind the wooden railings. It was a simple, quiet moment—just the two of us enjoying the view and capturing a memory before the sun began to set.
