Jean and I have truly begun our long stay in Hualien — today marks the ninth day since our recent arrival. After our son and his wife, along with their younger child, Little Shine, moved to Kaohsiung at the end of July, a new chapter opened for us. Together with James, our elder grandchild, we are now living and learning side by side. For about a year, the three of us will walk and rest together, sharing experiences both memorable and ordinary here on Taiwan’s eastern coast.
Now that August has begun, the other three members of the Liang family have started a new ministry at St. Timothy’s Church in Kaohsiung. May the Lord bless them day and night — and may He also guide the three of us in our time here in Hualien. (At the same time, I pray for all my friends and others — that each may receive abundant blessings through the Lord’s love and grace.)
Notes on the photos:
The photos below capture glimpses of our recent days:
– Ba Fang Yue (八方悅), where Mr. and Mrs. Guo treated us to dinner on Sunday evening;
– Liang Jin Shitang (兩津食堂), which we revisited on Monday and found had relocated;
– Fang Cun (芳村), the setting for a warm welcome-and-farewell party hosted by Mr. Yang, senior warden of St. Luke’s Church;
– and Chongqing Traditional Market (重慶市場), which I visited for the first time this morning (August 1st) with my wife, who knows its location much better than I do.
