Welcome Back to Hualien, Rev. Minglong Wu!

#2025-0803

While Rev. Antony Liang has moved to Kaohsiung to begin a new ministry at St. Timothy's Church, the Rev. Minglong Wu (吳明龍牧師) has returned to Hualien as the vicar of St. Luke's Church. Both of them — along with two other Episcopal priests — have been appointed by our bishop, the Rt. Rev. Lennon Yuan-rung Chang, to open a new chapter in the ministries of the Diocese of Taiwan.

Here at St. Luke's Church, we witnessed both the Commissioning and Installation services during our Sunday worship this morning. Symbolically, key members of the congregation presented Rev. Wu with several meaningful items: the Bible, a bottle of water, a cincture (or was it a stole?), olive oil, the key to the church building, the Diocesan Constitution and Canons, and the Bread and Wine. I wasn’t familiar with the English names of some of these items, but I did learn the symbolic meaning behind each of them. May the Holy Spirit continue to teach me the truth, and may God the Father bless us all — including our new vicar — through our Lord Jesus Christ!

As far as I know, Rev. Minglong Wu served at St. Mark's Church in Pingtung for about seven years before returning to Hualien. In fact, about seven years ago, he also served here at St. Luke’s for several years. I deeply admire his commitment to God: wherever he is needed, he is willing — and brave — to go and serve. And now, like all others who come to this church, I would like to greet him and his family with a joyful shout:

“Welcome back to Hualien, dear Rev. Minglong Wu!”
