The Sunflowers Became Egrets!

Last Friday we passed by some sunflower fields on the way to Asia University Hospital. The sunflowers were blooming like thousands of smiling faces in glory. So very eye-catching! And I thought that in two or three days we should come to them with a camera.

Here we came this afternoon. With a zoom lens camera, I wished to take pictures of the "Sun Flowers" in the beautiful sunset. To our surprise, there was nothing left on this piece of land, which had just been plowed. When I looked around for any possible Flora and Fauna (i.e. plants and animals), I found that the sunflowers in the fields had become hundreds of bai-lusi (白鷺鷥) -- usually called "little egrets" in English. They were either feeding in the plowed fields or flying around in the low sky!     (哇！田裡的向日葵已變成數百隻白鷺鷥。)

{Fiction} ~ Hunting in the Jungle

Let's skip to the middle part of the long story:

Keven (or "King Kong"), Daisy and Maria (Keven's two close partners), "Captain" (whose real name is unknown), Nancy (one of Captain's relatives), Chris (my good friend), and me (named "Pelico" in the novel) --  All the seven of us have finally united to each other as the Humanimal Allies. We often fought each other in the past, but we've now reconciled. No more hatred, no more fighting against our "neighbors"!

But the problem is that we're facing a new challenge: We must "hunt" in the Jungle (see photos below) and that is by no means an easy task. The young man William, who had been expected to be a fiction writer, is now missing. He was "taken" off the Captain's mansion by force on a dark, gloomy evening. Since then nobody has gotten a clue about where to find him. But recently there have been some rumors about the kidnapping of him and about where he was now imprisoned. One of the possible locations was said to be in the Jungle (see photos again) on the other side of the Black Dragon River. It would be extremely hard to get across the mysterious river and into the dangerous forest to snatch the young man back. But we must, we have to, even at the expense of our lives.

How should we overcome all the difficulties before us? And what is the first thing we should do right now?

The Beauty of the Tree Leaves

一連數日寒流來襲，這附近的各樣樹木，有些彷彿特別怕冷，葉子一夕之間就變了顏色，另外有些卻是老神在在，形色依舊，絲毫不受冬寒影響似的。我覺得有趣，也不禁要問：做為一棵樹，到底是「敏感善變／因時制宜」的好呢？還是「堅持到底／始終如一」的好呢？

"The Beauty of the Tree Leaves" -- This is what I want to entitle the photo album that I'd like to share with you today (See photos below). You know, after several cold days -- the days and nights with rare Cold Waves hitting this local place, I found that the sunshine was especially charming this morning and that in the beautiful sunshine all the trees near my house had made their leaves much more beautiful than before! . . .
