漫步到對岸/繞一圈回來

#2025-1021

A Pleasant Walk
   on the Far Bank
    of Meilun Creek

This afternoon, Jean and I wandered along Meilun Creek, as we often do. Today, however, we ventured across to the far bank for the first time, following a newly made trail that ran almost parallel to our familiar path.

We strolled downstream until we reached Jing Hua Bridge (菁華橋), its bright red frame glowing softly in the late sun. From the middle of the bridge, the creek stretched peacefully toward the Pacific, its calm waters reflecting the fading sky. Crossing it felt like stepping into a quietly different world.

On the far side, we turned and walked upstream, seeing the creek from a fresh perspective. The setting sun shimmered on rippling water, while distant buildings cast long shadows, framing the scene like a living painting.

Near Shang Zhi Bridge (尚志橋), the Martyr Memorial (國軍忠烈祠) rose into view once more, its gate taller and more solemn from this vantage point. We finally crossed back over the bridge and returned home, quietly content — reminded that even a familiar place can reveal new beauty, if only we take the step to explore the other side.
