Rectory Notes: Little Shine’s Drawings

#2026-0213

Below are ten pictures that I would like to keep in Mookoo’s Home for future reference.

The first eight were drawn and painted by my second grandson, John — also known as “Little Shine.” The last two are photographs from our first visit to their home in Kaohsiung. By “our,” I mean James, Jean, and me; by “their,” I mean Antony, Anita, and Little Shine.

In the final photo, you can see the restaurant Xiang Fu Yuan (饗福園), where the six of us shared a simple dinner of noodles and dumplings soon after James, Jean, and I arrived at the rectory of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, home to Antony, Anita, and Little Shine.

As an arts-loving grandfather, I treasure the “masterpieces” of both my grandsons. The eight drawings now hang on the wall of the rectory, adding life and joy to the room. My son, the Rev. Antony, is serving here as rector, and it is a special blessing for Jean, James, and me to be visiting for the Lunar New Year. The three of us came together from Hualien to spend a week with Antony, Anita, and Little Shine, making our family gathering all the more complete. We all thank the Lord for such a happy and memorable time together.
