Questions Asked on Wednesday Evening (飛揚小組：好奇愛問)

A couple of weeks ago, when it was my turn to lead the Cell-Group meeting at St. James' on Wednesday evening, I didn't prepare anything about my Christian faith to share. Instead, I encouraged everybody in the group to raise one or two questions about Christianity, whether those questions or problems had been "sensibly" answered or solved. As most of the group members were Christians, I believed that their questions as well as mine could be suitable for the whole group to discuss. At least, the questions asked by one member could be interesting to other members so they would like to say something about them.
Well, the questions asked on that evening were in Chinese, as follows:
1. 基督徒為什麼還會違反聖經的教導？
2. 如何讓每位基督徒把教會當自己的家一樣？
3. 外邦人及那些「墮落的民族」也都是上帝所造的［亞當的後代］，為什麼他們較不受祝福？
4. 為什麼舊約時代「三妻四妾」被視為正常？上帝造人不是只取亞當的一根肋骨造夏娃一人而已嗎？
5. 在熱鬧的市區「停車格」常常是一格難求！曾私底下祈求上帝賜給我停車位，這樣的祈禱會太自私嗎？
6. 在別人面前不太敢承認自己是基督徒，因為怕自己做得不夠好（不是很棒的基督徒），又怕別人給自己「貼標籤」（因而對我有太高的期待）。要如何改進，使自己勇於承認是基督徒？
7. 為什麼《創世紀》中記載有人以「亂倫」的方式傳（繁衍）後代？
8. 有人可以在夢中與上帝同行，有人可以「親眼看見」耶穌。若小朋友問道：「為何麼我看不見耶穌？」我們該如何回應？
9. 上帝（耶穌）是外國的神？我們為什麼要敬拜祂？祂為何只揀選以色列民族？
10. 美國以基督教立國，為什麼所作所為常常不符合上帝的旨意？
11. 聖經中有不少「醫治」的神蹟，時至今日，那「醫治的大能」是否還存在？
12. 關於「死後升天」究竟怎麼回事？是真或假？
13. 信主的人，祂才拯救嗎？不信或未信主的人，祂就不救了嗎？
14. 「創造論」與「進化論」孰真孰假？
15. 「童貞女生子」可能嗎？
16. 「復活」與「永生」的意義為何？
17. 死刑犯行刑之前才受洗歸入基督，他（她）真的能進入天堂？
18. 大兒子努力了一輩子，從未得到犒賞；小兒子敗光家產，浪子回頭。哪一個較為可貴？

We Did the Weeding This Morning (志工除草)

Jintian Lao Zhan (老詹), A-Chang Ge (阿昌哥), han wo sange ren qianwang Riyuetan Qingnian Huodong Zhongxin zuo zhigong (做志工) -- bangmang chucao (除草), qingli le Zhongxin ban'gong-ji-zhusu dalou han xiao-muwu zhijian de shanpo-shang de zacao.
Chule women san ren, hai you ling yidui zhongnian fufu (賴爸和賴媽) cong Zhanghua ganlai bangmang. Tamen gen A-Chang Ge yiyang, duiyu Jiuguotuan de lishi ji xiankuang xiangdang liaojie, gen Jiuguotuan de fuwu renyuan ye dou xiangdang shouxi.
Zhengge zaoshang, Riyuetan Huodong Zhongxin de Yang fuzong (副總幹事 楊國楨) dou peizhe women yi-kuar gongzuo. Er zongganshi Zhuo Jinquan (總幹事 卓進權) paocha qing women he; daole zhongwu, ta hai zhaodai dajia yongcan -- Zhongxin de canting liaoli hen he zhongren de kouwei! Dajia bianchi-biantan, gege xinman-yizu, meikai-yanxiao!

A Combined Birthday Party at Da Han Cha Yu (大漢茶語)

Notes:
(1) Da Han Cha Yu (大漢茶語) is located at 34, Mingxian Street, Cautun, Nantou County, Taiwan.
(2) The Chinese word sui (歲) is usually translated as "years old" in English, and vice versa; for example, when a boy is 13 sui, we would say that he is 13 years old. This translation is not very accurate or acceptable to Westerners, though.

My parents hosted a special birthday party today for my brother-in-law Changgeng, for my second brother Jincan, and for me. Both Changgeng and I were born in the same year, 1954. Jincan was born ten years later, in 1964. By the Chinese standard, Changgeng and I are both 60 sui (years old) and Jincan is 50 sui (years old) this year. My parents suggested that it be important to celebrate one's 50th, 60th, and 70th birthdays!
During this combined birthday party, my grandson Little Bee made his great grandparents so happy that they burst into laughter again and again. Look at the pictures below, and you'll see what my grandson did to be interesting to each of us. Oh, yes, ALL of us were very excited about his on-the-spot performance: he sang Happy Birthday to You in Chinese and in English!

Car-Washing (洗車)

I am resting in a small room while my car is being washed outside the window of that room. Through the window I can see my RAV-4, by which Jean and I have just returned home from Dajia, a town near the sea.
"Look! The windshield is dirty with birds' droppings," said Jean on our way home, "and our Little Bee is coming home soon. Won't you have the car washed before he is back?" I fully understood what she meant, so I am now at the car wash.
I would have washed my car myself (or just left it unwashed) if my wife didn't mention the "potential danger" that birds' droppings might cause to a very little boy. "Our Little Bee should be well protected," Jean stressed the adverb "well" when she and I talked about the bad situation that the H7N9 avian influenza (bird flu) had been spreading in several places in Mainland China in the past weeks. Obviously, Jean wanted me to clean my car thoroughly, and to make sure that our dwelling place is free from anything like birds' droppings! -- Was she worried too much about the spread of H7N9? Am I not worried about that kind of thing at all?
Anyway, instead of washing my car in the front yard by myself, I am now having it washed in a well-equipped car-washing workshop. But this "car-washing center" has been quite busy today. I see a middle-aged woman and two young men working hard to clean my RAV-4 and several other automobiles. I am doing nothing but a sort of "free association": Oh, Goodness, just as a polluted automobile should be cleaned, our mind and our heart should be renewed (or purified) every now and then . . . .
