社頂自然公園 + 小灣沙灘 (Up the Mountains, Down to the Beach)

#2011-0720

Day TwoA visit to Sheding Nature Park and Xiao-Wan Beach.

We really had a wonderful time visiting Sheding Nature Park this morning and Xiao-Wan Beach at 4:30 in the afternoon.

Sheding Nature Park (SNP) is part of Kending (or spelled Kenting) National Park, a national park located in the Hengcun Peninsula of Pingtung County, Taiwan. It took us about one and a half hours to walk through SNP. We walked along a winding trail that is "well" paved -- partly with pebbles, partly with wood planks, and partly with concrete hollow bricks. We enjoyed seeing quite a lot of interesting things on the way: coral rocks, special plants, birds, butterflies, crabs, and even a yellow snake! When we reached the end of the trail, we realized that the "exit" is very close to the "entrance" where we started our hike.

Later in the afternoon we enjoyed walking on the beach that is named Xiao Wan, meaning "little bay" in Chinese. Apparently Jean and Anita loved the water from the sea very much. It happened to be the moment for a rising tide, so the seawater kept coming to wash their bare feet. Ah! Sooooo very cool!
