Fuji (or Fujun in Mandarin) and his wife invited us to spend some time at their B&B. For this visit, Fuji especially encouraged our grandson James to join Jean and me, since he finished taking the very important Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students (國中教育會考, CAP) on May 17 and will soon graduate from junior high school.
"It's certainly worth celebrating," said Fuji.
Their invitation was not only for us to visit Gihak; they also wanted to treat the three of us to the buffet at the British Garden Restaurant (英倫西餐廳) in the Farglory Hotel (遠雄悅來大飯店).
For details about the buffet and our activities after lunch, please see the next post: [title to be decided].
Before moving on to that post, however, I would like to share a few interesting photos I took at Gihak this morning. The first few are my favorites. Just outside the window, in a leafy tree, a mother bird was busy tending her nest, which contained either eggs or newly hatched chicks.
Standing quietly inside the Gihak dining room with my phone camera in hand, I watched the mother bird tending her nest. She had no idea that I was observing her so closely. For some reason, that made me feel a little excited—hahaha...
