Great Bougainvillea (九重葛 / 葉子花 / 三角花 / 千日紅)

Jean and I visited her mom (my mother-in-law) today. When I pulled over to the side of the road, I was so impressed with the blooming bougainvillea that I took photos of it.

As far as I know, bougainvillea spectabilis, also known as great bougainvillea, is a species of flowering plant that is native to Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, and Argentina's Chubut Province. But it has been introduced in many other areas. And, after variety improvement, bougainvillea can produce flowers of many different colors such as purple, red, pink, yellow, white, etc.

Have you seen bougainvillea with green or blue flowers? I have now created some new varieties, as you can see above and below, by changing the purple flowers into green blooms and blue blooms.

On the Way to "Magnolia Valley"

前往 "玉蘭谷" 途中 . . .

On our way to the Valley of Magnolia (玉蘭谷), Jean and I saw a poorly constructed coffee shop on the roadside. Although the coffee shop was closed at the moment, we could see through the empty space inside.

How romantic would it be to have a cup of coffee in such a country place? However, there must be very few people coming here for coffee, so this shop has to close except for Saturday and Sunday.

I remember I stopped here for a cappuccino as I was passing by one weekend!

On both sides of the mountain road are familiar sights: a variety of tall and short trees, white egrets and red dragonflies in the valley, concrete bridges across the winding stream, and the eye-catching house and garden called "Oriental Rainforest" (東方雨林) -- this used to be a restaurant, but unfortunately it has long since closed. Oh, Jean and I were still happy to see all these this morning.

《影子》專輯：Me, Mookoo!

• No, it's just a shadow -- Your shadow!
• Yes, it's me; my shadow stands for me, doesn't it?
• But a shadow is a shadow. Who can be his or her shadow? You have a life, but the shadow of you doesn't.
• . . . .

(Then the conversation goes on, softly and indistinctly.)

以下照片，前三張為今日之作，其餘（第四～第八）拍攝於不同時間，經剪接轉貼，乃成《我的影子》專輯。對了，影子代表某個 人、事、物，但它並不是那 人、事、物 本身，這點值得注意。不是嗎？

球的聯想

球是圓的，太陽、月亮、地球也都是圓的。但只有地球的名稱（中文名）包含「球」這個字。為什麼？

其實，刺眼的陽光，讓我們無法抬頭直視太陽（我家方言管它叫 "日頭"）的本體；要不是自然課本提及，你我可能還不相信太陽是圓的。那個極其重要的 "星體"（太陽是恆星）是個發光體沒錯，但真的是圓球形狀的嗎？

而月亮，從我們的視角來觀察，也確實是「月有陰晴圓缺」(The moon waxes and wanes!)。農曆每個月初一到十五，然後十六到下個月初一，由殘月變成滿月，又從望月變成朔月，總在「虧」與「盈」之間反覆來回，不斷變化。這完全是人類眼睛的 "錯覺" 嗎？還是大自然想要賦予人類的某種 "真理啟示"？

回到現實情境，就在我家附近，地面上有這幾顆老舊的球（數一數，好像不只五顆球）我能拿它們做什麼用呢？我究竟要拿它麼做什麼文章？---- 於是我著手拍照、剪輯、思索，一邊自由聯想，一邊信手塗鴉，乃成此篇小記 (just a note!)。
