New Semester, Day II

#2025-0902

開學第二天

As James sets off for school on the second day of this new semester, Jean and I are also preparing ourselves for the days ahead — the hours when he is away from home or elsewhere.

Jean says she will practice the violin more regularly, in addition to singing and chanting classical poetry in traditional Taiwanese. She also wants me to spend more time practicing my viola and violin, just as she does. My reply is always the same: “I will.” Yet, I often find myself drifting toward other enjoyments — such as reading aimlessly, browsing without purpose, or indulging in what I call “free writing” or “fiction composition.” I enjoy these so much that I sometimes forget my promise to the instruments.

Now, with a new semester beginning, it feels like the right moment for a fresh start. It is time to adjust my daily life. Ideally, together with my better half, I hope to live a richly blessed life — under the Lord’s grace and guidance. The pictures I share below are reminders for myself:
  1. To enrich my spiritual life by praying through The Book of Common Prayer and other devotional inspirations.
  2. To study more deeply the bilingual editions of Tang Poems in Original Rhyme (原韻英譯唐詩精選) and Tang and Song Lyrics in Original Rhyme (原韻英譯宋詞選), both translated by C. K. Ho (何中堅 譯).
  3. To join the study group led by Prof. Annie Tsai, moving forward with our good friends on the Journey to Intimacy (親密之旅), a course shaped by Dr. Wei-Jen Huang (黃維仁 博士).
  4. To help my grandson James with his junior-high English.
  5. To practice the pieces I have been taught, along with easier hymns and songs, on my viola.
May the Lord help me fulfill these dreams of mine! 😅😍😄
