台東旅遊 第二天 (B)
A Trip to Taitung
Day Two (B)

After visiting the Paul Chiang Art Center, Jean and I headed to the Torik Visitor Center. This impressive complex is officially known as the East Coast National Scenic Area Headquarters (東部海岸國家風景區管理處). It is also commonly referred to simply as the East Coast National Scenic Area, or ECNSA.

We first spent some time outdoors, admiring what we both agreed was one of the most breathtaking landscapes we had ever seen. Later, we entered the Visitor Center, where we were immediately impressed by the striking artworks displayed on the walls. Downstairs, the Story Rooms deeply moved us with the stories of the Amis people and other Indigenous communities of eastern Taiwan. We also watched an introductory film in the center's theater, which gave us a deeper appreciation of the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Here are a few of the photos I took during our visit. I think the pictures speak for themselves, capturing the beauty of this remarkable place far better than words can. It was a truly memorable day—one we will always treasure.

On our way back, we stopped at a well-known baozi shop to enjoy some freshly made steamed buns. We also stopped briefly at a fascinating attraction called "Water Running Uphill" (水往上流). Because of the surrounding terrain, the water in an irrigation ditch appears to flow uphill rather than downhill. In reality, it is a remarkable optical illusion created by the surrounding landscape.
