A Camel Brother Remembered

It is with deep sorrow that I reflect on the recent passing of our dear classmate, Mr. Ruifang Chen (陳瑞芳), who left us on Monday, July 1st. Fifty years ago, we formed a unique bond at Chiayi Teachers Junior College (嘉義師專), becoming lifelong "Camel Brothers" (駱駝兄弟).

Ruifang was not only a dedicated student but also a celebrated violinist with the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (國立台灣交響樂團). His journey from school teacher to renowned musician showcased his unique talent and dedication, making us proud to call him a Camel Brother. Each of us, whether continuing in teaching or pursuing other paths, has contributed in our own way to our shared legacy at Chiayi Teachers Junior College.

Tomorrow morning, some of us will gather at the mourning hall to pay our respects and show our enduring friendship and love for Ruifang. We will meet at around 11:00 a.m. to honor the bond that has kept us united for half a century.

As we remember Ruifang, let us hold on to the camaraderie and love that defined our Camel Class. His contributions to music and the joy he brought into our lives will never be forgotten.

With heartfelt condolences to his family and all who knew him, we bid farewell to a remarkable man and cherished friend.
