Today is the Last Sunday after Pentecost, also known as Christ the King Sunday. I didn't go to church this morning; instead, I joined my mother-in-law's family and friends for a special one-night camping trip that started on Saturday afternoon.
The camping took place at Green Spring (綠知心泉) in Shuili Township. Jean and I thoroughly enjoyed the event, even though we hadn’t gone camping much in the past ten years. Jean remarked, "Mom is getting older. It’s worthwhile for us to take this wonderful chance to go camping with her!" I completely agreed and prayed that the Lord would bless us with many more opportunities to spend quality time with our dear Mama.
The campsite was truly fascinating (see photos). While the younger friends and family members set up their tents, we seniors stayed in a thoughtfully designed building for the night. Before retiring to our tent-like lodging, we mingled and chatted with some "new faces" in addition to our relatives. What a delightful evening! Our new friends were eager to sing and play the saxophone, their renditions of old pop songs stirring a wave of nostalgia for times long past.
Oh, how quickly happy moments pass! By noon today, the brief camping trip, which lasted from Saturday afternoon to Sunday noon, had come to an end. Afterward, Jean, Mama, and I, along with a few close relatives, headed to Qingshui via Freeway Number 3. We had been invited to a special festival banquet hosted by Jean’s sister, who lives in Qingshui (清水), a district of Taichung City near the seashore.
