The Spring Lantern Festival, 2020

#2020-0208

It's the Lantern Festival (元宵節) today. Just before the Lantern Festival, Ms. Chen (素秋老師) and her husband visited us with two DIY Lanterns as gifts for our two grandchildren (See photos).

How much blessed are our grandchildren, one being a third-grader (小學三年級) and the other in the Middle Class in the preschool (幼兒園中班). And how happy all of us are! Ms. Suqiu Chen was the "homeroom teacher" of Rev. Antony Liang (father of my two grandchildren) when he was in the sixth grade in Wufeng Elementary School long time ago! -- Ms. Chen is not a teacher now; she has been working in the Taichung City government for years.

Affected by the 2019 novel coronavirus (provisionally named 2019-nCoV and informally known as the Wuhan coronavirus), our Central Government announced that the elementary and high schools' new semester be postponed for two weeks. In other words, the winter vacation for students is extended for two weeks and they'll not be back to school until February 25. What should we do to deal with the possible problems caused by this change? We told Anita that we could help take care of a boy -- either James or John, either our first or second grandson. Well, that's why we're celebrating this year's Lantern Festival together with James, the "third-grader" mentioned above.
