除夕特別節目:Games for the Whole Family

#2022-0131C

James had prepared (or designed) some special programs for tonight. He and his brother, John, hosted what they called "yúxìng-jiémù" (a small show or entertainment), which was a series of games for the family to play.

In the first stage, James asked us to guess the riddles that he had collected from the Internet. When we guessed correctly, we were given a chance to spin the wheel to get a certain amount of toy banknotes and coins, which were later used to play Monopoly during the second stage.

Finally, in the third stage, we drew lots one after one to get our prizes. James and John's father was lucky to get the biggest prize of the night, which was a box of checkers (pictured above right).

除夕留影:Moments of Joy and Gratitude

#2022-0131B

Tomorrow will be the start of the Year of the Tiger, and a new beginning for each of us -- so then, how to welcome the new year? And how to bid farewell to this old year, the Year of the Ox?

Look! We're enjoying the moments of joy and gratitude on Lunar New Year's Eve!

We've had the Reunion dinner. My son and I, who are "fathers," have just now followed the tradition giving "red envelopes" (with money in them) to other members of our family... (Thanks to the Lord! May he continue to bless us . . . and bless all of our friends and our relatives!)

除夕健行:Hiking in the Mountains

#2022-0131A

It's the last day of the Year of the Ox today. James and John and their parents have just returned from Taipei for the Chinese Lunar New Year.

As the oldest generation of the Liang family, Jean and I suggested that they follow us for a hike in the Wufeng mountains in the afternoon. They all agreed except Anita, the two boys' mother, who would like to stay home and complete cooking the Reunion dinner for all the family.

The five of us spent about two hours walking and chatting in the nearby mountains. We passed by the pineapple orchards on the hill and saw some pineapple fruits "wearing black hats" (see photos) for some reason. -- "It's fun," said the two boys.
