An Unforgettable Recital: 霍明珠 William Lawing 鋼琴與小號演奏會

#2011-0806

Here at Qiu Zhen Lou (求真樓) of National Taichung University of Education, a meaningful and enjoyable recital is being performed by Ms. Cynthia (the pianist) and her husband Mr. William Lawing (the trumpeter) on the evening of August 6, 2011 -- This happens to be the Chinese Valentine's Day, called Qixi in Mandarin, as it is the seventh day of the seventh month according to the Chinese lunar calendar.

The recital is the third of four charity recitals that Cynthia and William have planned to give in Taiwan this summer. They already performed two recitals last weekend, one at St. Paul's Church in Kaohsiung on Saturday and the other at St. John's Cathedral in Taipei on Sunday. And their fourth and final performance in Taiwan this summer will be at The Advent Church, in Tamsui, tomorrow afternoon. All of these are sponsored by the Mission Fund of the Taiwan Episcopal Church. And yet the Lawings are giving "charity performances" -- as a special way to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary!

The recital at Qiu Zhen Lou, NTUE, is now coming to an end. Oh, what a wonderful occasion! This is really an enjoyable and unforgettable recital for me, not only because of the excellent performance, but also because Bishop David Lai has appointed me to serve as the MC (master of ceremonies) of the concert. I think I have naturally (reasonably) put some emphasis on the Chinese Valentine's Day.
