Fine Works on the Riverbank

（河堤上的佳作）

We walked north along the riverbank of Meilun Creek. Before long, we came upon a stairway painted with lotus flowers and carps. Beside the stairway, on the side wall of the footbridge, a second work appeared — a landscape alive with rich color and fine detail.

In this landscape, beyond the blue sky, drifting clouds, and layered green mountains, a broad stretch of terraced rice fields waves in the breeze. A small stream flows beside them, and in the center stands a modest mountain temple. The temple is not large, yet its design is distinct and pleasing (as shown in the photo).

We paused for quite some time, taking it all in. We smiled, sharing the same thought: both works — the playful carps on the stairway and the quiet countryside on the bridge — are so vivid that they stir the imagination.

Below are the photos I took, so readers may “see with their own eyes” the true appearance and bright colors of these artworks.

在美崙溪河堤上，我們望北走去。走著，走著，經過一處畫了蓮花和鯉魚的階梯。連接著階梯的天橋側面，更有一幅筆觸細膩、色彩鮮明的山水寫生。

那幅山水畫中，除了藍天浮雲，山巒疊翠，主要是一望無垠的梯田稻浪，旁邊有一彎溪流，襯托出畫面正前方的一間山廟。這廟，看樣子並不大，但建築風格卻頗有特色（如圖）。

我們佇足觀賞了好一會兒，頗有同感，會心微笑：無論是階梯上的鯉魚，還是天橋側面的田野風景，都畫得栩栩如生，引人遐思......
