Sun Moon Lake (明潭之行) Part One

#2015-0622A

Fr. Joel del Rosario, a priest from The Episcopal Diocese of Central Philippines, will be leaving from Taiwan later this week. He arrived at my church, St. James' Church in Taichung, about 55 days ago. Since then I have regularly met him and, more importantly, we have served the Lord together each and every Sunday.

I like Fr. Joel very much, and so does Jean (my wife), just as all our friends at St. James' do. Jean and I agree that he has something very good for us to learn, something that could be referred to as "qualities or characteristics of a true Christian," such as kindness, faithfulness, humility (or gentleness), and patience, in addition to peacehopelove, and joy. -- Oh Lord, when I say I am a Christian, meaning that I'm one of the Christ's students, I must confess that I always find it extremely difficult to be a TRUE Christian. Now there are still much more that I need to study, practice, and learn!

Confucius said, "Sān rén xíng, bì yǒu wǒ shī." (三人行, 必有我師.) This well-known proverb means: "Two heads are better than one. We can learn from everyone." Or it literally means this: "Among any three people walking, I will find something to learn for sure." Honest to God, I'm quite happy to have Fr. Joel as my friend, and as my teacher. -- See how happy I have been today? This morning Jean and I took Fr. Joel as well as my 82-year-old mother to Sun Moon Lake, where we did have a wonderful time walking and resting together, chatting and sharing lots of things with each other, and having ice-cream and hot coffee after lunch!

See the photos below, which is Part One.
