Evensong: The Feast of All Saints -- 為紀念「諸聖日」舉辦頌唱晚禱

#2015-1102

Yesterday we had Evensong starting at 4:30 p.m. at St. James' Episcopal Church, in Taichung City. It was our first time to have such a special service on Sunday afternoon. We named it "The Feast of All Saints," as it was held on November 1st, All Saints' Day.

Regarding the rich traditions of Evensong, you may refer to the article "Evensong" in the English Wikipedia (參閱英文維基百科:Evensong 條目) if you like. But the truth is that whether we were familiar with the traditions or not, we enjoyed very much yesterday afternoon -- before, during, and even after the Evensong. We really had a wonderful time!

As members of St. James' English-speaking congregation, we not only appreciated Bishop David Lai's support and Rev. Lily Chang's help, but also thanked the Chinese choir and other church members for their joining us in this Evensong. What's more, we wanted to especially thank Mr. David Puckett (pictured top right, and also below) for his training the English choir and drafting the bilingual bulletin for this evening prayer. -- Well, thank the Lord!

We have sung or chanted these: Phos Hilaron (恩光頌),
The Psalm 24 (詩篇 24 篇), Magnificat (尊主頌),
Nunc Dimittis (西面頌), Hymns 24, 287, etc.
