溪頭剪影(節節高升流浪腳)

#2010-1109

節節高升流浪腳? -- What does this sentence mean?

If you read the first group of pictures (marked 001), you'll see that 節節高升 (read as Jie Jie Gao Sheng in Mandarin) has something to do with 竹文化節 (The Bamboo Culture Festival) which will be celebrated again soon. Usually, 節節高升 (or 節節升高) is a Chinese phrase used to describe someone or something getting higher and higher (for example, in one's status or position).

As for the second part of the sentence, 流浪腳, which means something completely different, please see the second group of pictures (marked 002) for information. Well, an explanation in Chinese is seen in one of those pictures. In fact, 流浪腳 (liu-lang jiao) is a "patois"; its real name should be 流籠腳 (liu-long jiao). If you are interested in learning more about it, ask me by e-mail or . . . .

下圖說明文字中,括弧內的「浪籠腳」,應是「流籠腳」才對。
